Can't wait to sleep next week!

As Jeff mentioned on his blog, it became very apparent that our bed was causing some of my neck discomfort which contributes to my vertigo problems. We received a flier in the mail from Levin furniture for a sale and decided to check it out. After an hour or so, we walked out the proud new owners of a Stearns & Foster mattress set plus some extras. These extras were part of the sale - 2 luxury pillows, $500 worth of free groceries, and a free 19" HDTV.

They presented us with the pillows on the spot, but they were down feathers and since I'm allergic we're waiting for the latex ones to come in. The "free" groceries are a bit more complicated and if I weren't taking care of this, I'm sure Jeff would have abandoned the endeavor within the first 2 minutes. You have to enroll in the program online, keep track of your receipts from month to month and send them in with an online voucher each month in order to get a $25 gift card to the grocery store of your choice. You have to spend $100 each month at the store in order to receive the gift card. So, for $500 - I'll be mailing in receipts for the next year and then some. We'll see if I keep up with it. The last freebie was the TV. Actually we can buy anything we want with the gift card that they'll send for BestBuy. I'm sure we'll find a use for that.

We don't take delivery of the new mattress set until July 7th. Can't wait to go to bed that night!!!

Unacceptable!!

When it comes to Jeff and me and our hotel standards, I am not quite as picky. (Jeff is a self-proclaimed hotel snob, afterall!) But not having any hot water this morning is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!

It's back to Buffalo today for part 2 of trip #1. Planning on spending some quality time with the hubby before I leave though.

Shuffling to Buffalo

I have to go to Buffalo for the next two weeks for work. I'm actually looking forward to it as a nice change of pace instead of the everyday stuff at work. I have to admit that I'm also looking forward to sleeping in what I hope will be a better bed than ours!. Getting everything ready in a relatively short period of time has been a bit stressful, coupled with the fact that I haven't taught this particular material in two years, but it's pretty much like riding a bike. It'll come back to me pretty quickly.

The downside to the trip is that I was going to be away from the DH (devoted husband!), but since he has the time he's going to meet me up there for a few days this week. He'll get the opportunity to explore the greater Buffalo/Niagra Falls area while I'm teaching during the day and then we can explore together in the evenings. This will be my 3rd work trip so I know the basics but never had an opportunity to go into Buffalo itself (work is in a suburb called Amherst). Perhaps Jeff will make a few side trips to Darien Lake and/or Martin's Fantasy Island amusement parks. What sucks is that the new border-crossing laws went into effect 2 weeks ago and you need to have a passport to travel to Canada now. I have one, but Jeff doesn't. So I guess I'll be making a quick solo trip to get that delicious Canadian Ketchup that he so loves!

Timeliness is key

So I received a violation report at work today - it's basically noting that I tried to access a system and input my password incorrectly enough times to trigger the report, but not enough times to deny me access. Sometimes I type too quickly, so I'm not surprised when I get these. I am then expected to fill out a very basic form stating "yes, it was me" or "no, it wasn't me." What bothered me about this today though, is that the violation was for May 1st. Umm... how the heck am I supposed to remember if I was trying to access system X at 1:12:42pm???? Way to stay on top of things.

Driving tip of the day

Dear Ignorant Idiot Driver,

I can understand that you have lots of things on your mind at the end of the day and would just like to get home like everyone else without the hassle of rush-hour traffic but I feel the need to pass along this driving tip: If you are sitting in a turn lane that does not have a median of any sort separating one side from the other, do NOT open your car door to empty something out onto the ground IN FRONT OF oncoming traffic. Not only did you piss me off, you're lucky I didn't take your friggin' door right off the hinges.

Sincerely,

The Bitch, who considered hitting you just to teach you a lesson but has a newer car that she's rather attached to.

Yesterday I was feeling rather lazy with my morning routine and instead of taking the time do my hair properly I opted for a quick hit of the hairdryer and a headband. It was supposed to be a quiet day at work and only one phone meeting.

As I walk in the door at work I remember it's Tuesday... the day I'm supposed to get my new badge picture taken. Never fails.

Lego Love

I'm not what you'd call a gamer (by any stretch of the imagination) and I only have 2 games that I've really enjoyed playing. Zuma and Lego Indiana Jones. I LOVE that Lego game. I played a bit of the Lego Batman and should really go back to it, but the lack of real plot-line didn't keep me as engaged. I'm playing through Lego Indy again and am almost finished - just have the extra levels to go through.

I was happy to discover that there is another Indiana Jones game coming out this fall to get me through the blah winter months indoors. But the thing that made me REALLY EXCITED is that in 2010 Lego Harry Potter will hit the markets. I can't wait to roam the halls of Hogwarts lego-style!!!!!! :)
